So, I bought some jewellery from boticca.com for myself and also a Christmas present for baby sister. I noticed that for every item sold on boticca, 0.5% of the purchase price is donated to watsi.com.

I had never heard of watsi, so I decided to visit their site. Chase Adam, founder of watsi had an idea to invite donations for the healthcare for people who needed treatment in many different parts of the world.

I was moved to read about Isabel, a woman in Guatemala, diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer. She is 49 and a mother of six. I am 48 and if I were to be diagnosed with cervical cancer, my treatment is free, courtesy of the UK's National Health Service. I looked at how much had been raised for Isabel-$20. She needed over $1000. Another woman, Esperanza, had most of her treatment costs raised, so I made a donation for Isabel and shared a plea for assistance on Twitter.

This happened on October 31st, on November 3rd, I received email notification that Isabel's treatment costs had been raised! I don't know how it happened so quickly, but I am blown away by the power of social media and the kindness and generosity of many.

Thanks and God Bless to all those that donated, Isabel is now undergoing chemotherapy. I pray that she recovers and can continue to raise her children and live in wellness.
